Here is the template for your brochure:

A few definitions of the word JOB:
*a specific task done as part of the routine of one's occupation for an agreed price
*use your natural talents, abilities and skills to serve the needs of others

Synonyms for Job - Career/ Occupation/ Vocation /Profession
Calling: a strong inner impulse toward a particular course of action, vocation, or profession
Character : not the work you do but how you do the work

Questions to ask yourself:

  1. What are you good at naturally?
  2. What brings you great joy?
  3. What might you consider doing everyday to earn a living that you would consider enjoyable and worthwhile?
  4. What do you do now that gives you a great sense of accomplishment and pride?
  5. Why do we work?

Based on the answers above...
  • What do you need to do to prepare yourself to get that job ?
  • What type of training or education is required?
  • What skills are you lacking?
  • How much money do you need to save for that training?
  • Who can help you get there?
  • What type of exposure have you had to the day to day operations of this job?
  • Do you know anyone who you can shadow for the day to get that understanding?

Students will....

  • explore various career clusters
  • survey themselves for likes and skill sets on several online tools
  • create a collaborative slideshow of what their choices are to share with an image, link and text
  • locate an educational institution that offers their interests and explore it fully
  • determine admission requirements, tuition costs, major offered
  • determine what they need to get there and create an action plan for themselves
  • create a Plan B for unanticipated circumstances
  • create a brochure outlining their intentions and plans for themselves
  • define vocabulary associated with colleges and applications
